Steven a. Mitchell

Steven A. Mitchell, 58, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 9:53 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Mitchell graduated from Huntington North High School in 1972 and was a lieutenant with the Huntington Fire Department, where he was employed from 1987 until 2012. He also worked for WW Gravel, currently Speedway Sand and Gravel, from 1978 to 2012. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church.
He was born Feb. 21, 1954, in Huntington to Bobby D. and Nancy Nicholson Mitchell. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Bobby D. and Sandie Mitchell, of Huntington.
He married Jackie L. Barton on March 10, 1979, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Bart (Abby) Mitchell, of Huntington; two daughters, Dana (Kelly) Burden, of Elkhart, and Darcy (Kyle) Hoopingarner, of Huntington; two brothers, Terry (Teresa) Mitchell, of Fort Wayne, and Dave Mitchell, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Debbie (Ron) Stevens, of Culver, and Sharon Mitchell, of Florida; and seven grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Marti Lundy officiating.
