John W. Boggess, 69, of Columbia City, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at 6:35 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington.

Mr. Boggess attended Huntington High School and served in the United States Marines from 1961 to 1965. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for several years. He was a member of the Leatherneck Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbia City. He also worked with the Toys for Tots program.

He was born Aug. 3, 1943, in Huntington County to John H. and Bertha I. Kilgus Boggess. He married Shelly S. Maloney Zawacki on Jan. 5, 2010, in Columbia City. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, John R. Boggess, of South Whitley; Matthew A. (Tammy) Boggess, of Albion; and Jason A. (Angie) Boggess, of Columbia City; a daughter, Beth E. (Chad) Lehman, of Churubusco; two sisters, Diane M. Geiger and Sharon A. Diffendarfer, both of Churubusco; and seven grandchildren.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the American Cancer Society.
