Helen J. Allen, 97, of Bluffton, IN, and a former resident of Markle, IN, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.
She had been employed by GE, the Square D coil factory in Markle for 15 years and as a clerk at Gaskills & Richardson Grocery Store in Zanesville. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Zanesville, Wells Community Hospital Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She was born Feb. 7, 1915, in Allen County to Roy and Gola Smith Hoopingarner.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Briner, of Bluffton; a sister, Marjorie Rabel; four brothers, John (Lorene) Hoopingarner, Dale (Miriam) Hoopingarner, Don (Marlene) Hoopingarner and Ron (Beverly) Hoopingarner; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 5912 N. Sugar St., Uniondale. Burial will be at Hoverstock Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are gifts to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Uniondale.
