Monnabell J. Hambleton, 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Roanoke, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hambleton was a graduate of Lafayette Center High School. She was a homemaker and had been employed by General Electric, Fort Wayne, during World War II. She had lived in Roanoke, Waynedale and Big Lake before moving to Fort Wayne in 1977.
She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Allen County to Glenn P. and Gladys Bowsman Ruby. She married Max E. Hambleton on Oct. 30, 1945. Her husband preceded her in death on March 28, 1987.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (David) Shafter and Brenda (Don) McCurdy, both of Fort Wayne, and Cynthia Hickman, of Topeka; a daughter-in-law, Sue Hambleton, of Texas; a sister, Gloria (Terry) Smith, of Columbia City; a brother-in-law, Fredrick (Winifred) Hambleton, of Fremont; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial was at the Highland Park Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the Allen County Council on Aging.
