Dorotha R. Hauenstein, 88, of Markle, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at 1:31 p.m.  at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Hauenstein was a 1942 graduate of Roanoke High School. She worked as a clerk for Farm Credit Services for six years. She was a farmer's wife, farming in Union and Rock Creek Townships in Wells County. She was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Needmore Extension Club. She was a Laubach Literacy teacher for several years.

She was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Whitley County, to Daniel E. and Nellie Marie Redman Schoenauer. She married John R. Hauenstein on Feb. 13, 1949, in Huntington. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 2008.

Survivors include a son, Mark (Becky) Hauenstein, of Markle; a daughter, Beth Hauenstein, of Columbia City; a sister, Barbara Anderson, of Winona Lake; a brother, DeWayne Schoenauer, of Payne, OH; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at 10 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to the service, at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6514 E. 750 N. Ossian, with Rev. William Berge officiating. Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
