Jerry W. Bennett, 70, of Marion, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Bennett had been employed by General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1996.

He was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Sullivan to James and Lydia Squires Bennett. His mother, Lydia Bennett Hamilton, survives in Gas City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol L. Bennett. He married Vada S. Abbott Edwards on Aug. 1, 2006, and she survives,

Additional survivors include four daughters, Tracie Richards, Kellie Keller, Terrie Sproat and Ryan Bennett, all of Marion; five stepsons, Scott (Paulette) Edwards, of Huntington; Mike (Sharon) Edwards, of Fairmount; Cecil (Terri) Edwards, of Hidden Valley Lake, CA; Jay (Ginger) Edwards, of Van Buren; and Travis (Ginger) Edwards, of Marion; a sister, Sandra (Gary) Carter, of Fairmount; a brother, Ronald (Laurie) Bennett, of Tennessee; six grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel Marion, with Rev. Henry Favorite officiating. Burial was at Grand Memorial Park, Marion.
