George A. Bauer

George Arthur Bauer, 80, of Columbia City, IN, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Mr. Bauer attended Thorncreek School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. A long-time Whitley County resident, he had worked at Columbia Dairy, in Columbia City, from 1949 to 1974 and in the maintenance and sanitation departments of Schenkel's Dairy, Huntington, from 1974 until his retirement in 1995.
He was born May 10, 1932, in South Bend to John Lewis and Alice E. Hall Bauer.
Survivors include two sons, William L. (Mary Jo) Bauer, of St. Paul, MN, and Brady R. (Dee) Bauer, of Ness City, KS.; a brother, John L. (Glenda) Bauer, of Cromwell; a sister, Marge Wright, of Texas; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, from 11a.m. to 1 p.m., with a memorial service following at 1 p.m., at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Sharon Brockhaus will officiate. Burial will be at Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
