Imogene Palmer

Imogene Palmer, 90, of Warsaw, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at 6:35 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Palmer taught four years at Jefferson Township High School in Adams County. She was employed as secretary to the registrar at Huntington College from 1952 to 1968. She served as registrar of the college from 1968 until 1997, when she was named registrar emeritus. She was a member of the Indiana and American Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers, the American Business Women's Association and Altrusa International. She was a member of the board of directors of the Northern Indiana Health Systems Agency and was active in the Methodist Women and The Salvation Army. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw.

She attended Clear Creek School and graduated from Huntington High School in 1937. She attended the Michael Reese School of Nursing. She earned a degree in secretarial science from Huntington College in 1941 and, in 1944, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huntington College in history and English with a minor in business education.

She was born June 15, 1918, to Peter and Addie Snyder Amick. She married Glenn "Archie" Palmer on July 2, 1944. Her husband survives.

She is also survived by a son, Steve (Linda) Palmer, of Howe.

Graveside services and burial were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, with Rev. David Overmyer officiating.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Warsaw Trinity United Methodist Church, 382 E. Center St., Warsaw.
