Larry G. Sands, 73, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 9:24 p.m. at the Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Sands had been employed as an auto body mechanic at Bob's Auto in Huntington. He previously worked at Auto Collision, in Fort Wayne, and Clark's Salvage Yard, in Huntington. He played in many area bands.

He was born April 28, 1939, in Huntington to Leo and Marie Fanning Sands. He married Sharon C. Spickelmier Gooley on Dec. 20, 1981, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Robin Taylor and Lisa Stoltz, both of Huntington; four sons, Leo (Becky) Sands, of Kimmel, and Lonnie Sands, Scott Gooley and John Sands, all of Huntington; three sisters, Dondas Carpenter, Betty Broxon and Rosemary Zeller, all of Huntington; two brothers, Gary (Mary) Sands, of Huntington, and Bobby Sands, of Andrews; 17 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Servia. Rev. Ray Scribner will officiate.
