Leona B. Faulkner

Leona B. Faulkner, 92, of LaFontaine, and having family members in Roanoke, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center, in LaFontaine.

Mrs. Faulkner was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army. She earned the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. She had been employed at Pierce's Pastries, in Marion, and was a waitress at Orchard Ridge Country Club for 20 years before her retirement in 1985.

She attended St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church and volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Northern Indiana Health Care Systems. She was a 1938 graduate of Jefferson Township High School.

She was born Dec. 2, 1920, to Leon and Iva Jones Mayer.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna J. (Phillip) Rust, of Marion, and Cheryl A. (Mark) Wells, of Monroeville; a son, John Robert (Linda) Faulkner, of Roanoke; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 S. Washington St., Marion. Burial, with military honors, will be at the Marion National Cemetery. Rev. Steve Colchin will officiate.
