Lyle G. Fretz, 78, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Fretz was a firefighter for the City of Fort Wayne for 25 years, retiring in 1987, and worked as a service technician for Nowak Supply for 24 years. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church and Local 124 of the Firefighters Union.
He was born in Fort Wayne to Gerald and Nancy Fretz. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Fretz. He is survived by his second wife, Joan Fretz.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Terri (Steve) Squires, of Fort Wayne; a son, William Fretz, of Fort Wayne; five stepsons, Randall (Nancy) Brunson, of Huntington; Daniel (Robin) Brunson, Mark (Marcia) Brunson and Timothy (Myra) Brunson, all of Fort Wayne; and Robert Tracie Brunson, of Bluffton; five grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., fort Wayne. A service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Martin Gehring and Rev. Donald Meyers will officiate. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
