James R. Hedrick, 83, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne
Mr. Hedrick was a member of the Mt. Etna Methodist Church. He was co-owner of Mt. Etna Saw Mill, and he also owned College Castle Motel in Greencastle and Hedrick's Burger Dairy Stores in Huntington. He also worked with his son and daughter at Hedrick's Eagle Excavating. He was a veteran Little League baseball coach.
He was born July 22, 1929, in Banquo to Edkar and Bertha King Hedrick. He married Patricia Cross on May 6, 1950. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Pam (David) Thrift of Warren; a sister: Jean (Doyle) Paul, of Andrews; two daughters-in-law, Margie Hedrick and Donna Hedrick, both of Huntington; a son-in-law, Mike Fisher, of Huntington; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by an honorary son, James (Camille) Cross, of Kendallville.
Calling is Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home-Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior, at the funeral home, Gerald O. Moreland officiating.
