Howard L. Hinton

Howard LeRoy Hinton, 83, of Roanoke, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation, Huntington.

Mr. Hinton attended Anderson High School and was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps. He earned a degree in engineering during his 40-year career with General Motors as a journeyman/millwright. He was a member of the Masons, Blue Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriners.

He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Fairmount to Oral and Estia Marie Zentemyer Hinton. He married Carol Stump Frank on Aug. 21, 1976, in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Paul (Sue) Hinton, of Centerpoint; Howard R. Hinton, of Brazil; and Tim (Toni) Frank, of Elkhart; three daughters, ReAnn (Tom) Donaghy, of Fort Wayne; Tammy (Mark) Boohaw, of Brazil; and Kim (Perry) Myers, of Huntington; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at 2 p.m., with one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot.
