Robert J. 'Bob' Kinzer

Robert Joseph "Bob" Kinser, 84, of Hartford City, IN, and having family members in Zanesville, IN, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2013, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Kinser was employed by General Motors in Marion for 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Hartford City, the Moyer-Pooler Post of the American Legion and the Hartford City AMVETS. He was a 1946 graduate of Hartford City High School and served in the United States navy from 1948 to 1952.

He was born April 8, 1928, to Arthur Thomas and Minnie Myrtle Murphy Kinser. He married E. Rebecca Kinser on June 16, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 1991, He married Wilma Colene Miller Adkins-Kinser on Nov. 28, 1992, in Hartford City, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Mark Richard Kinser, of Fort Mill, SC, and Michael Robert (Penny) Kinser, of Montpelier; two daughters, Michele R. (Brad) Evans, of Houston, TX, and Melissa R. (Mark) Dorsey, of Indianapolis; a stepson, Douglas (Loree) Adkins, of Hartford City; two stepdaughters, Diane K. (Andy) Tuttle, of Zanesville, and Patricia L. (Jim) Shelly, of Bluffton; a brother, Richard Thomas (Joanne) Kinser, of Hartford City; 14 grandchildren, Brandi Kinser, Charissa Mounsey, Courtney Carpenter, Matthew Dorsey, Madison Dorsey, Maria Dorsey, Heather Athan, Andy Platt, Joseph Platt, Bob Shelley, Brian Shelley, Kayla Adkins, Ashley Adkins and Douglas Adkins; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Hartford City, with Rev. Dave Newton officiating. Burial was at the Hartford City Cemetery.
