Jana Lee Hughes, 74, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having ties to Huntington County, IN, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at St. Anne Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hughes was a teacher and head of the business department with the Southwest Allen County Schools and Homestead High School for 22 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Huntington Chapter and Starcraft Camper Club. She was a founding member of Ageless Iron of Roanoke.
She was born in Auburn to Hemen and Helen Opdycke. Survivors include two sons, Greg (Karen) Hughes, of Pleasant Lake, and Gary (Lori) Hughes, of Brownsburg; a daughter, Karen (Dan) Unger, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Douglas Opdycke, of Bonita Springs, FL; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her former husband Dan W. Hughes, survives in Elwood.
Calling is Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Anne Home Chapel, 1900 Randallia Drive, Fort Wayne, and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. A service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
