Avis Dearing, 87, of Van Buren, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 10:20 a.m. at her daughter's home in Converse.
Mrs. Dearing attended Van Buren High School. She had worked for General Tire, Marion, for 26 years and retired in 1981. She attended Country Side Chapel Church, Marion.
She was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Huntington County to Harman and Vinnie Robinson Beck. She married John W. Dearing on Feb. 27, 1943, in Marion. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Robert) Smith, of Converse; a brother, Herbert (Lois) Beck, of Logansport; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Dearing, of Van Buren; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Van Buren. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ron Herring officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
