Donald W. Waldron, 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at 8:05 a.m. at Harbour Assisted Living, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Waldron was a 1943 graduate of Hazelton High School in Hazelton, PA. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in the 1075th Engineer Port Repair Shop. He worked as a service manager for United Airlines for 38 years, starting in Allentown, PA, and retiring from the Fort Wayne airport in 1978.
He was a member of American Legion Post 296 in Fort Wayne, the Waynedale Masonic Lodge and the Fort Wayne Barbershop Quartet. He was a volunteer at The Embassy in Fort Wayne for several years and was the founder of the Markle Bow Hunters Club.
He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Hazelton, PA, to Joseph and Dawn Griffith Waldron. He was married to Audrey M. Wunderlich for 25 years; she died on Nov. 15, 2012. His second marriage was to Corinne Martin, and she preceded him in death on Oct.19, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Waldron, of Markle, and Mark Waldron, of Franklin; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Greg Comp will officiate. Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
