Edwin P. Ayres Jr.

Edwin Porter Ayres Jr., 83, of Monroe, MI, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Ayres served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. He worked many years as a production control manager for Raytheon Electronics, retiring in 1987. He relocated to Leesburg, FL, in 1980, and moved to Monroe, MI, in 2003.

He was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Huntington. He married Shirley Kay Small on March 1, 1952, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Phillip) Bennett and Kimberly (Ricky) Hendee; a brother, William R. (Ellie) Ayres; four grandchildren, Christopher Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Ryan Bennett and Michelle Hendee; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
