Paul W. Archer, 86, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Markle, IN, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
A Fort Wayne, native, Mr. Archer was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II. He worked as a shipping clerk for Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Company for 45 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Post 296.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Archer.
Survivors include a son, Bill (Debi) Archer, of Fort Wayne; four daughters, Sandy (Gerald) Roby, of Fort Wayne; Cindy (Jeff) Clark, of Seminole, FL; Karen (Joe) Archer-Sorg, of Markle; and Melodie (Tim) Troxell, of Montgomery, MI; 13 grandchildren; Scott, Melissa, Brian, Megan, Gretchen, Adam, Casey, Jeff, Jenny, Joe, Levi, Sampson and Delilah; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Debra Meuter will officiate. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
