Opal M. Gaier, 86, of Warren, IN, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Gaier graduated from Roll High School in 1944. She was a dairy farmer. She had also worked at John Deere for 13 years, Crankshaw in Montpelier for 16 years and Bardo Chevrolet in Bluffton for 11 years as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Montpelier.
She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in rural Blackford County to Elmer and Rachael DuBois Martin. She married Cary Gaier on Jan. 27, 1945, in Hartford City, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Francis (Shirley) Gaier, of Bluffton, and William (Nancy) Gaier, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Vonda (Paul) Branson, of Winchester; a grandson, Marc (Conya) Gaier, of Kokomo; two stepgrandchildren, Krystal Schimes and Karl Jones, both of Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. Gerald Moreland will officiate. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Montpelier.
