Fred B. Tobin, 75, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 11:05 a.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Tobin graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the United Sates Marine Corps, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars as a lance corporal. He was employed by NIPSCO, Fort Wayne, for 34 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a past president of Eagles Lodge 823, a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 and a member of the 40&8 Voiture 850 and American Legion Post 7, all in Huntington. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cromwell.
He was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Huntington to Robert and Beulah Reavis Tobin.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Tobin, of Minnesota, and Kevin Tobin and Keith (Cynthia) Tobin, both of Huntington; three brothers, James (Carol) Tobin, of Florida, and Jess Tobin and Tom Tobin, both of Huntington; three sisters, Betty Oplinger, of Fort Wayne, and Margaret Badger and Patricia Denton, both of Huntington; three grandchildren, Ryan Tobin, of Roanoke, and Crystal Kish and Chealsea Hargrove, both of Huntington; and a great-grandchild.
Calling is Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. Military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington. Burial will be at a later date.
