Patricia A. Zezula, 72, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Zezula graduated from Ida (MI) High School and went on to study at Huntington College, graduating in 1969. After graduation, she became a physical education instructor, assistant athletic director and coach at the college. During her first 15 years on staff, she served at various times as head coach of every women's sport offered by the college. She was named athletic director in 1982, making her the first female intercollegiate athletic director in Indiana. She earned a doctorate from Ball State University and retired from Huntington University in 2006.
She had also operated a home-based craft business, Pat Zezula & Friends.
She was born April 29, 1940, in Monroe, MI, to Sherman and Lula Sweat Cox. Her mother survives in Ida, MI. She married Harry Zezula on Aug. 19, 1972, in Monroe, MI, and her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Josh (Bethany) Zezula, of Markle; two sisters, Paula (Bruce) Banning, of Jackson, MI, and Billie (Kelvin) Reaume, of Ida, MI; and three grandchildren, Landon Zezula, Carter Zezula and Selah Zezula, all of Markle.
Calling is Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Union Church, 3688E-400N, Huntington. Additional calling will be on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, with service following at noon, at Morocco United Brethren Church, 1633 W. Morocco Road, Temperance, MI. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery, LaSalle, MI.
