Lloyd W. Bowman, 84, of West Unity, OH, and having family members in Markle, IN, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, OH.
Mr. Bowman graduated in 1946 from West Unity (OH) High School, where he played on the basketball team. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and operated a dairy processing plant, delivering milk to homes until 1982. He had also owned and operated Bowman Dairy Bar Restaurant for 43 years.
He was a member of West Unity United Methodist Church, Gideons International, Bryan Madrigal Choir, Sounds of Joy Quartet and the Barbershop Chorus of West Unity.
He was born Sept.21, 1928, in Zone, OH, to Franklin Benjamin and Alice May Benson Bowman. He married Joline Anne Shaffer on June 12, 1949, in West Unity, OH. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Lloyd F. (Susan) Bowman, of West Unity, OH; six daughters, Carolyn (Ed) Wolf, of Lafayette, CA; Jane Fry, of Auburn; Linda (Dana) Smith, of Auburn, IL; Beth (Alan) Surfus, of Markle; Sandy Bowman, of Pueblo, CO; and Annette (Ron) Zaper, of Whitehouse, OH; two sisters, Lola (Fred) Harker, of Enon, OH, and Anna Sheesley, of Elizabeth City, NC; a brother-in-law, Mitch (Olive) Depew, of West Unity, OH; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a memorial service following at noon, at West Unity United Methodist Church, 311 N. Liberty St., West Unity, OH. Rev. Julia Ronngren will officiate.
