William J. "Bill" Fisher, 73, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 8:26 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Fisher attended Huntington Catholic High School. He served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He retired from Standard Electric, where he worked as an electrician. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, both in Huntington.
He was born Sept. 30, 1939, in Huntington to Edward and Juanita Ebersole Fisher. He married Sondra Foster on March 3, 1990, and she survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Edward Fisher, of Douglasville, GA; three stepsons, Michael Jay, of Huntington; Samuel (Sheila) Curry, of Fort Wayne, and Charles Curry, of Andrews; two daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Pederson, of Cottage Grove, MN, and Amy (Shane) Austin, of Union City; three stepdaughters, Jean (Allen) Herd, of Douglasville, GA; Sabrina Faust, of St. John's, FL; and Kristy (Matt) Rawles, of Albion; two brothers, James (Martha) Fisher, of Ashley, and Michael Fisher, of Huntington; two sisters, Susie Dieringer and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" (Rod) Sands, both of Huntington; 26 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, March 8, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Sebastian Twinomugabi officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
