Betty L. Hodges

Betty L. Hodges, 89, of South Whitley, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 12:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter

Mrs. Hodges graduated from Larwill High School in 1941. She had been employed by General Electric, Fort Wayne, and later the former Blue Bell, Columbia City. She was also a homemaker.

She was born May 10, 1923, in Carroll County to Leo F. and Axie E. Cross Landis. She married George E. Hodges on June 1, 1941. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1995.

Survivors include a son, Mark E. Hodges, of South Whitley; a daughter, Mary L. (Mike) Mudrack, of South Whitley; a sister, Joanna Fry, of South Whitley; a sister-in-law, D. Pauline Landis, of South Whitley; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jamie) Hotchkiss, of Huntington; Jessica (Tom) McFarland, of Mentone; Neil (Megan) Hodges, of Syracuse; Lisa (Kris) Harvey, of Phoenix, AZ; Emily (Kyle) Myers, of South Whitley; and Marissa (Josh) Cripe, of Claypool; and eight great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with Rev. Steve Massie of the First Baptist Church, South Whitley, officiating. Burial was at the South Whitley Cemetery.
