Doyle K. Brown

Doyle K. Brown, 88, of Markle, IN, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at 9:19 p.m. at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wane.

Mr. Brown was a lifelong Wells County farmer, working land that had been in his family for three generations. He also ran a dairy operation and raised hogs. He was active at the Markle Church of Christ, serving as financial secretary for 40 years, playing trombone in the church orchestra and singing in the BLOC Busters quartet. He also presented musical programs with his family at the church and in the community. He graduated from East Rockcreek High School, where he was active in track and field and music.

He was born July 5, 1924, in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, to Wilfred and Hallie Faye Derr Brown. He marred Donna Irene Overholt on Jan. 12, 1947. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" Connie Brown, of Markle; two daughters, Lynne (Duane) Brown, of Kendallville, and Georgia (Robert) Whitehurst, of Tampa, FL; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, March 31, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. A service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle. Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery, Wells County.
