Charles L. Carnes

Charles L. Carnes, 77, of Hoffman Lake, IN, and a native of Warren, IN, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Warsaw Meadows Care Center.
Mr. Carnes was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Navy pilot in Japan from 1952 to 1958. He was a flight instructor for the Nappanee Airport for many years.
He was a member of the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association, Barbershop Chorus, National Rifle Association, American Legion Post 49 in Warsaw, Warsaw Community Schools Chess Program, Warsaw Public Library Chess Program and Warsaw Adult Learning Center English as a Second Language Program.
He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Warren to Fred and Martha Mossburg Carnes. He married Sandra L. Keiper in January 1959, at Koontz Lake. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Linda Carnes Rummer; two sons, Steven (Lillian) Carnes and David (Leslie) Carnes; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Carnes; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with military honors by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, Warsaw, at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association.
