Delbert G. 'Del' Divelbiss

Delbert G. "Del" Divelbiss, 80, of Fort Wayne, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at 4:05 a.m. at the Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Divelbiss was a 1947 graduate of Huntington High School. He was a United States Navy and Naval Reserve veteran. He worked as an inspector at International Harvestor in Fort Wayne for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He then worked at Tri-State Expedited Services of Toledo for eight years.

He was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntington, previously attending North Christian Church and Banquo Christian Church. He played the baritone in the Erie Band of Huntington for many years.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1929, in Huntington to Carl and Bessie Weinley Divelbiss. He married Norma. J. Markley on June 22, 1952, in Roanoke. She survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Karen (David) Cox, of Plymouth; Kay Ann (Mike) Moore, of Glen Allen, VA; and Kathy Divelbiss, of Fort Wayne; a son, Thomas Divelbiss, of Lakewood, CA; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 10 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to the service, at the funeral home, with Rev. Peggy Edge and Rev. Gary Riley officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Lancaster Cemetery.
