Benjamin C. 'Ben' Tackitt

Benjamin C. "Ben" Tackitt, 77, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 9:50 a.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mr. Tackitt graduated from South Whitley High School in 1954 and attended International Business College, Fort Wayne. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington, serving as an usher for many years, and was a charter member of the Evening Exchange Club of Huntington.
He worked as an accountant at Farmers Elevator of South Whitley, retiring in 2000. He had previously worked for Donald G. Fisher C.P.A. and after retirement worked part time for Terry Reckard C.P.A.
He was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Wales, KY, to Robert L. and Mellie Little Tackitt. He married Ginger K. Ferrell on Nov. 17, 1957, in South Whitley. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Jayne (Bruce) Tomlinson, of Lagro, and Joan (John) Johnson, of Huntington; three brothers, Maurice Tackitt, of Garrett; Larry Tackitt, of South Whitley; and Danny Tackitt, of Sun City Center, FL; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Ferrell, of Huntington; and three grandchildren, Megan Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Kendall Tomlinson.
Calling is Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Matt Gapinski will officiate. Burial will be at South Whitley Cemetery.
