James "J.B." Bowers Sr., 61, of rural Warren, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Bowers, a 1970 graduate of Fort Recovery (OH) High School, served four years in the United States Army. For the past nine years, he was employed by A.T. Ferrell, in Bluffton. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 and the Moose Lodge, both in Bluffton, and the Bro Shadow, in Montpelier.
He was born Feb. 25, 1952, in Fort Recovery, OH, to Leonard and Gladys Brown Bowers. He married Bev Green on Oct. 28, 1978, in Zanesville. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Bowers, of Huntington, and Stephanie Turner, of Fort Wayne; two sons, James Bowers Jr., of Zanesville, and Keith "Moe" (LeeAnn) Bowers, of Danville; three sisters, Mary (Roger) Sanders, of Ansonia, OH; Lois (Gerald) Somers, of Portland; and Peggy Bowers, of Robertsdale, AL; a brother, Mike (Deb) Bowers, of Portland; and seven grandchildren, Jasmine Miller, Macaaha Bowers, Cameron Bowers, Trenton Bowers, Addison Bowers, Jackson Bowers and Kaiden Turner.
A service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. Rev. Aaron Westfall will officiate. Burial will follow, with military honors performed by American Legion Post 111, of Bluffton, and the United States Army Honor Guard.
