James L. Bonifas

James L Bonifas, 80, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital, in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Bonifas graduated in 1951 from Huntington High School and received a degree in engineering at Illinois Institute of Technologies in Chicago, Illinois. He worked from 1975 to 2000 as a salesman and later became vice president of Sales for Allied Locke Industries in Dixon, IL. He was also a salesman for Locke Steel Chain in Huntington, and prior to that worked at Model Engineering of Huntington in tool and die design.

Mr. Bonifas was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington and Grand Army of the Republic.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Decatur to Leroy and Manonna Wertzberger Bonifas. He married Barbara L. Rohm on Sept. 16, 1956, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1998.

Surviving are a son, Michael J. (Ann Marie) Bonifas, of Huntington; a sister, Joyce (Kermit) Jones; of Fort Wayne; and a grandson, Evan Bonifas.

He was also survived by a companion, Joyce Truitt of Fort Wayne.

Calling is Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be Friday, June 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, with one hour of visitation prior to service. Rev. Robert Land will be officiating. Entombment will be held in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
