Shirley J. Shinholt

Shirley J. Shinholt, 70, of rural Van Buren, IN, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at 6 a.m. at her residence.

Mrs. Shinholt graduated from Marion High School in 1961. She was a housewife all of her life. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Marion, and a former member of the Van Buren American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Van Buren Lioness Club and the Van Buren Red-Hatters.

She was born March 29, 1943, in Grant Countyto Marvin and Nancy Woodcock Taylor. She married Max Shinholt in Farrville on Jan. 19, 1963. He survives.

Additional survivors are two sons, Greg (Tina) Shinholt and Scott (Holli) Shinholt, both of Van Buren; a daughter, Kelly (Miles) Proctor, of Van Buren; two stepsons, David (Becky) Elzey and Gary (Rhonda) Elzey, both of Bluffton; a stepdaughter, Louann (Ben) Townsend, of Van Buren; three granddaughters, Mandi (Jake) Poe, of Upland, and Taylor Shinholt and Alison Stout, both of Van Buren; 10 stepgrandchildren, Chris Elzey, Heather Elzey, Brooke Rice, Courtney Craig, Matthew Townsend, Gabe Shinholt, Megan Smith, Lonni Meyers,Tia Meyers and Cameron Meyers; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, Van Buren. Following calling on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 10 a.m., a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Dr Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery, Van Buren.
