Charlotte Wasmuth Meyers, 96, of Oshkosh, WI, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Oshkosh, WI.
Mrs. Meyers was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a social worker and placed children in adoptive homes. She graduated from Franklin College, in Franklin, in 1939 and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She had been active in several women's organizations in Huntington, where she lived from 1940 until 2002.
She was born May 22, 1917, in Edinburgh to John Francis and Lenore Burnam Hyde. She married Robert Edmund Wasmuth on June 20, 1940, and he preceded her in death in September, 1963. She married Gordon Meyers in January, 1966, and he preceded her in death in January, 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Wasmuth, of Oshkosh, WI, and Sally Jane (Bob) Kahly, of Tustin, MI; a stepdaughter-in-law, Janet Meyers, of Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Spencer (Jennifer) Kahly, of Battle Creek, MI, and Rylan (Rebecca) Kahly, of Rodney, MI; three step-grandchildren, Lynn (Vincent) Mattina, of Long Beach, CA; Margo (Nelson) Concepcion, of Indianapolis; and Rick Meyers, of Fort Wayne; six great-grandchildren; and three step-great-granddaughters.
Calling is Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. Robert Kahly will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
