Helen Jeanette McFarren, 81 of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at 12:54 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. McFarren graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1950. She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Sodality.
She was born July 31, 1932, in Huntington to Glen and M. Ivona Miller Christman. She married Monty McFarren on Oct. 6, 1956, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2010.
Surviving are three sons, Philip (Shelly) McFarren, of Huntington, and Leslie (Marti) McFarren and James (Stephanie) McFarren, both of Roanoke; three daughters, Kay (Phillip) Behrens and Karen McFarren, both of Huntington, and Jean (Jeffrey) Pratt, of Fishers; two sisters, Mary Lou (John) Overman and Patricia (Joe) Ness, both of Huntington; 11 grandchildren, Desiree (Keith) Fritcha, Megan (Troy) Wolfe, Brady McFarren, Craig Behrens, Jessica McFarren, Austin "Shorty" McFarren, Cassie (Craig) Smith, Mitchell Pratt, Samantha Pratt, Lane Burnau and Cale Burnau; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, and one hour prior to the Mass of the Christian Burial Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke, with Rev. Dale Bauman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke.
Memorials are to the St. Joseph food pantry or for masses in care of Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, Indiana 46783.
