Jimmie D. Shelton, 82, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having ties to Zanesville, IN, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Kingston Residence, in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Shelton was employed as a customer service agent for Delta Airlines for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Zanesville United Methodist Church and a 25-year member of the Zanesville Lions Club. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Air Force.
He was born in Ripley, MS, to John and Dessie Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Shelton.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou (Kent) Rethlake and Lisa (Jeff) Malone, both of Fort Wayne; a son, Jeff (Jill) Shelton, of Markle; a sister, Olgie Hammers, of Billings, MT; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the Zanesville United Methodist Church, in Zanesville, with Rev. Mike Murrell officiating. Burial was at Hoverstock Cemetery, in Zanesville.
D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, was in charge of arrangements.
