James D. Eppley

James D. Eppley, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 9:45 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Eppley earned a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree at Ball State University. He served in the United States Army for two years and was a member of Central Christian Church. He had been employed by the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and later the USDA in Muncie, retiring in 1996.
He was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Treaty to Norris and Jessie Little Eppley. He married Betty Burton on Sept. 1, 1956, and she survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Craig Eppley and David Eppley, both of Huntington, and five grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at noon, with calling two hours prior to the service. Rev. Chris Hayden will officiate. Burial will be at the LaFontaine Cemetery, in LaFontaine.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service for 4-H programs, the American Cancer Society or the Allen County Cancer Society, all in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home.
