Virginia L. 'Pooch' Smiley

Virginia Louise "Pooch" Smiley, 85, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Smiley graduated from Huntington Catholic High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.
She was born June 24, 1928, in Huntington, to John and Maybelle Fahl Allman. She married Dale W. Smiley on Jan., 16, 1954, in Huntington, and he survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, David (Gloria) Smiley, of Durango, CO, and Joseph (Cathy) Smiley, of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Marcia (Edward) Shinn, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Eloise Parker, of Huntington; a brother, Robert Allman, of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Calling is Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m. A service will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10400 Aboite Center Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
