James Richard Bever, 90, of rural Lagro, IN, and having family members in Andrews, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at 11:45 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Bever was a lifelong farmer and retired from Celotex after 25 years of service. He attended Dora Christian Church and was a charter member of the Lagro Lions Club. He attended Linlawn High School.
He was born Sept. 24, 1923, in Wabash County to James W. and Nellie M. Ply Bever. He married Peggy in Richvalley on Oct. 10, 1947. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Steve) Turner, of Wabash; Susie (John) Martin, of Roann; and Lori (Greg Rosemeyer) Sampson, of Avon; a son, Tim (Lisa) Bever, of Andrews; three brothers, John (Peggy) Bever, of Lagro; Frank (Olive) Bever, of North Manchester; and Tom (Emma) Bever, of Wabash; 15 grandchildren, Tim Mohr, Stephanie (Scott) Summers, Jeremy (Kristi) Dunn, Aaron (Kristi) Turner, Shaunda (Matt) Jarrett, Melinda (Will) Scott, Allen Davis, Todd (Krys) Martin, Greg (Rebecca) Martin, Marc Bever, Jennie (Jason) Warnock, Matt Bever, Neil Bever, Ryan (Nicole) Sampson and Eric Sampson; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, with Rev. Mark Wisniewski officiating. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Lagro Volunteer Fire Department or the Alzheimer's Association.
