Mary C. Clupper

Mary Catherine Clupper, 99, a former resident of Van Buren, IN, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at 8:37 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren, IN.

Mrs. Clupper graduated from Van Buren High School, in Van Buren, and from Marion Normal College, in Marion. She taught at Emmerson Grade School, Town Clock Grade School and McCulloch Junior High School, all in Marion. She retired in 1963 from Van Buren Elementary School, where she had taught for 26 years.

She was a member of the Van Buren Library Board for many years and was a past president of the Eastbrook School Board. She was a member of the Van Buren Book Club.

She was born May 1, 1914, in Van Buren Township, Grant County, to George Danal and Sarah Viola Jacobson Akers. She married Francis B. Clupper on Feb. 6, 1938, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, George F. (Donna) Clupper, of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Debra (Kevin) Kuhn, of Tipton; Michael G. (Monique) Clupper, of Zionsville; and Christine (Daryl) Brane and Scott A. (Stacy) Clupper, both of Van Buren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Van Buren. Chaplain Ginny Soultz will officiate. Interment will be at the Van Buren Cemetery, in Van Buren.
