Melvin C. Van Meter Sr.

Melvin C. Van Meter Sr., 76, of Andrews, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at 6:45 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Van Meter attended Andrews High School and Fullerton Sate University, in California. He was a member of the South Broadway Church of Christ.
He was born April 15, 1937, in Huntington to Fred M. and Helen Schattu Van Meter. He married Pat Lusch, who preceded him in death in 2003. He married Penelope Whitesel Eley on July 31, 2004, in Huntington, and she survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Melvin C. (Viola) Van Meter Jr., of Columbia City; a daughter, Rebecca J. (Mark) Campbell, of Warren; two brothers, Robert (Pat) Van Meter, of Silver Lake, and Richard Van Meter Sr., of Huntington; two sisters, Betty Wolfe, of Fort Wayne, and Sandy (Rex) Baxter, of Huntington; five grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours or services. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Star of Hope Cemetery.
Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
