Charles E. 'Chuck' Ripley

Charles E. "Chuck" Ripley, 81, of Plymouth, IN, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Monday morning, Oct. 14, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Ripley graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1950. He served with the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Indiana Farm Bureau after serving as a claims adjuster, supervisor and regional claims manager for 41 years. He had also worked at Superior Auto in Logansport and Bedford.
He served three terms on the Plymouth City Council, three terms as chairman of the Solid Waste District and eight years on the Center Township Advisory Board. He also served on the City Insurance Committee. He was active in the First United Methodist Church, in Plymouth; was a lifetime member of Union United Methodist Church, in Adams County; and was a longtime member of Rotary International.
He was born April 12, 1932, in Adams County to Leland A. and Midge C. Davis Ripley. He married Norma Louise Chattin on April 15, 1956, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Michael (Susie) Ripley, of Indianapolis; Mitchael (Lori) Ripley, of Greenwood; and Mark (Diane) Ripley, of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Enid J. Roberts, of Columbus, and Pauline (Marvin) Joray, of Wentworth, SD; three brothers, Marcus J. (Penny) Ripley, of Decatur; Thomas M. (Arvilla) Ripley, of Lexington, KY; and Michael K. (Emily) Ripley, of Fort Wayne; three sisters-in-law, Betty Ripley, Sue Ripley and Marlene (Jim) Habegger, all of Decatur; 12 grandchildren, Elliot, Melinda, Michelle, Jessica, Eric, Jared, Hannah, Amanda Rachael, Anthony, Heather and Holly; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Additional calling will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, 520 N Second St., Decatur. A service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Union United Methodist Church, CR 650E south of Ind.-124 in Adams County. Burial will be at Tricker Cemetery, Adams County, with military honors by American Legion Post 43.
Memorial gifts may be made to a hospice organization or Rotary International Club of the donor's choice.
