Lelah M. Benninghoff

Lelah Mae Benninghoff, 89, of Warren, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at 8:15 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Benninghoff, a former resident of Plymouth, graduated from Hamlet High School, in Hamlet. She served in the United States Navy as a mechanic on flight crews at Daytona Beach, FL. She worked as a housekeeper at the former United Methodist Memorial Home (now Heritage Pointe), in Warren, for 11 years before retiring in 1989.

She was born June 7, 1924, in Walkerton to Walter George and Zelma Lucille Harness Summerlot. She married Lloyd E. Benninghoff on June 12, 1946, in Knox. Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Earlene (Robert) Bechtel, of Wildwood, FL; a daughter-in-law, Connie Benninghoff, of Markle; a sister, Jean (Richard) Furnal, of Rochester; a brother, Gerald (Margaret) Summerlot, of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Melissa Bechtel, of Indianapolis; Robert Bechtel II, of Warren; Stephanie (Shaun) Wheeler, of Craigville; and Stacy Benninghoff, of Ossian; and two great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntintotn County.
