William R. 'Bill 'Garland

William R. "Bill" Garland, 73, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at 9:40 a.m. at the VA Hospital, in Marion.

Mr. Garland graduated from high school in 1959 and served with the United States Army during Vietnam. He was employed by the Chrysler Corporation, in Detroit, MI, for 34 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8242, in Yuma, AZ.

He was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Detroit, MI, to Raphael and Norma Lee Garland. He was preceded in death by two wives, Mary Joanne Rathbun in 1999 and Pamela Diane Oncina in 2013.

Survivors include two sons, David (Mary) Garland, of Glendale, AZ, and Stephen Garland, of Grandville, MI; two daughters, Laura (Bill) Lucker, of Huntington, and Pamela (Ken) Overstreet, of Westland, MI; four stepchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) DeJong, Pamela Oncina Susan, Charles Oncina and Jackie (Jim) Kelly; three brothers, Russ Garland, of Winter Park, FL; Jerry Garland, of Commerce Township, MI; and Bruce (Cathy) Garland, of Plainfield; two sisters, Marilyn (Richard) Gibson, of Westland, MI; and Sharon Garland, of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at noon, with calling one hour prior to the service, at College Park Church, in Huntington. Rev. Gary Dilley will officiate.
