Dorothy G. Hawthorne

Dorothy G. Hawthorne, 84, of Muncie, IN, and having ties to Van Buren, IN, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the Golden Living Center of Muncie.

Mrs. Hawthorne had been employed by Weaver Popcorn Co. and Doyle Brothers Egg Co., both in Van Buren. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Muncie, and a past president of the American Legion Post 368 Auxiliary, Van Buren.

She was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Virgil, SD, to Robert and Tillie N. Evensen Schamber. She married Edwin L. Bramblett on Nov. 1, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1973. She married Jack D. Hawthorne on March 26, 1976; he preceded her in death in April 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Lou Ellen (Tim) Botkin, of Muncie, and Karen (Terry) Enochs, of Washington Court House, OH; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Calling is Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, Van Buren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Van Buren Cemetery, with Rev. John Malzahn officiating.
