Carolyn S. Parsons, 83, of Warren, IN, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 3:45 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.
Mrs. Parsons, a former resident of Roanoke, earned a Bachelor of Science in writing from St. Francis College in 1961 and a master's degree in education from St. Francis in 1948. She also studied vocal performance for 12 years.
She taught students in fourth grade through college, retiring in 1998 from Homestead High School. She had also worked for a telephone company in Fort Wayne and as a telephone operator at Camp Atterbury. She performed with Fort Wayne Summer Symphonies, in area concerts and as part of numerous Huntington "Messiah" performances. She was active in union efforts and had served as president of the QB Quilting Club.
She was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Huntington to Joe and Norma Penland Petrucelle. She married Thomas E. Parsons on May 1, 1971, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Huntington. Her husband survives.
