Virginia A. 'Ginger' Hunnicutt

Virginia A. "Ginger" Hunnicutt, 84, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Lutheran Life Villages, Pine Valley, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hunnicutt was employed as secretary in the library at Huntington North High School for 23 years. She had also served as receptionist at Dream Big Therapy for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Huntington, and volunteered in the church's soup kitchen for several years.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Marvin D. and Ada Amelia Cain Adams. She married Robert E. Hunnicutt on May 29, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Mel (Barb) Hunnicutt and Tim (Kristi) Hunnicutt, both of Huntington; a daughter Rita (Mark) Spears, of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Sam Adams, of Washington, DC; John (Laurie) Adams, of Huntington; and Chuck Adams, of Pendleton; two sisters, June Marschand, of Panama City, FL, and Sherry (Jeff) Gressley, of Wabash; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Calling is Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. Gary Sigler will officiate. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, in Marion.
