Lilly Mae Kunkel

Lilly Mae Kunkel, 88, of Vestaburg, MI, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot, in Alma, MI.
Mrs. Kunkel graduated from Alma High School in 1943. She worked at Lobdell Emery Manufacturing, in Alma, MI, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. She had previously been employed by Wolverine Worldwide, in Ithaca, MI. She was a member of the Alma Salvation Army.
She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Alma, MI, to Harry and Minnie Mae DuBois Campbell. She married Melvin Kunkel on March 21, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Lavern) Poling, of Huntington; Rosalie "Roni" (Ben) Perez, of Alma, MI; and Deanna (David) Brawt; two sons, Rod (Linda) Kunkel, of Vestaburg, MI, and Dick Kunkel, of St. Louis, MO; 21 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Alma Salvation Army, with Major Lavern Poling officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alma Salvation Army.
