Darryl J. Smith, 77, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 5:50 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
A former resident of Fort Wayne, Mr. Smith retired from Navistar International (formerly International Harvester). He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 241 and the Moose Lodge of Huntington. He was a member of St. Peter's First Community Church.
He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Ligonier, PA, to Evelyn Hower Smith. He married Janice I. Craver, who survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Mona (Tim) Dennie, of Fort Wayne, and Lisa (Jason) Harbuck, of Huntington; a son, James (Debbie) Smith, of Huntington; two sisters; four brothers; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Richard Strick will officiate. Interment will be at St. Peter's First Community Church Cemetery, Huntington.
