Charles F. Jones, 84, of Marion, IN, and a former resident of Van Buren, IN, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at 11:30 p.m. at Marion General Hospital, in Marion.
Mr. Jones was a truck driver until 1980. He later worked as a custodian at East Brook North Elementary School for many years before retiring. He served on the Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department.
He formerly attended the Van Buren Nazarene Church and had been attending the Colonial Oaks Church since moving to Colonial Oaks Retirement Community in 2011.
He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Marion to Glenn T. and Gladys P. Van Ness Jones. He married Janet Covey on Sept. 22, 1949, in Marion, and she survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Bobby (Linda) Jones and Glenn E. Jones, both of Van Buren, and Kenneth L. (Karen) Jones, of Zephyrhills, FL; a daughter, Carla (Tim) Burnett, of Converse; two sisters, Barbara (Rudy) Florek, of LaFontaine, and Joan (Charles) Weaver, of Marion; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Van Buren. Rev. Ken Thompson will officiate. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory.
