Willodean M. Swank, 84, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at 7:15 a.m. at Tipton House, in Huntington.
Mrs. Swank graduated from Manchester High School in 1947. She worked for more than 30 years in the Huntington County auditor's office and the assessor's office. She was elected county assessor, serving for for two terms from 1993-2001. She retired from the Huntington County Courthouse in 2001. She worked on the family farm in Clear Creek and Warren townships. She was a member of South Whitley United Methodist Church and Huntington County Homemakers. She served as chairman of the Huntington County Republican Party for several terms.
She was born June 11, 1929, in Wabash County to William Y. and Elizabeth Grist Pottenger. She married Gerald L. Swank on Oct. 31, 1948, in North Manchester, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2009.
Survivors include her son, Donald E. Swank, of Huntington.
Calling is Friday, March 14, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the mortuary, with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Brice Bennett will officiate. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery, in Huntington County.
